Sangam Playlist for Monday, 21 January, 2013

Below is the draft playlist for 21 January show, which also happens to be the date for the US Presidential Inauguration.

Listen live (to the music show!) here: between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm US Central Time on the 21st (02:00-04:00 UTC, 22 January, 2013). Or tune in to the audio archive after the show.

Listen to the archived shoe here:

See if you can figure out the little story or joke built from the song titles and lyrics starting with Salman Ahmed's piece and going through to the last song (must be bilingual in Urdu and English).

Here is the question I meant to ask on the show and forgot:

Q. When was the title "Malika Tarannum" given to Noor Jehan? Who awarded the title?

Q. Where can one find a high quality video clip of Abida Parveen singing Bulleh Shah's kafi " jay rab milda nathaya dhotayaan...Mandir maseeti"? Something of much better video and audio quality than what's typically found on YouTube.

Answers to these items would be much appreciated, especially if received by Sunday, 27 January, 2013.
